What ARE We Waiting For? The Return of the King

Introduction:

The Return of the King:

  1. Will be Obviously Announced . (Matthew 24:29)

Luke 21:25-26 - And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

  2. Will be Impossible to Ignore or Deny . (Matthew 24:30)

Daniel 7:13-14 - I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.

Revelation 19:11-16 - Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and whe will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Philippians 2:10-11 - ...so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  3. Will be a Glorious Celebration if You Love Him . (Matthew 24:31)

Col 3:4 - When Christ who is your life happears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

2 Tim 4:7-8 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.

      1. Mocked and Humiliated

Matthew 27:35 - And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots.

Psalm 22:7-8 - All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads; "He trusts in the LORD; let him jdeliver him; let him rescue him, for he kdelights in him!"

He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, 'I am the Son of God.'" And the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

      2. Pierced

    1. We no longer need to Feel Hopeless

Psalm 22:14-15 - I am spoured out like water, and all my bones are tout of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast; my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death.

Psalm 22:3-4 - Yet you are holy, enthroned on athe praises of Israel. In you our fathers trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them.

Psalm 22:21 - Save me from the mouth of the lion! You have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen!

    2. We no longer need to Fear Rejection

John 6:37 - All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

Ephesians 3:18-20 - ...may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us...
